New compulsory pool safety inspections for Victoria – We Can Help.

Despite a significant reduction in recent years, toddler drowning deaths continue to be one of the leading causes of accidental death for Australian children under 5 years of age.

As of 1 December 2019, the Victorian State Government is making it mandatory for all property owners to register their pool or spa and obtain a valid pool compliance certificate as part of a pool and spa barrier inspection program, to prevent access to pool areas and avoidable accidents.

To meet these new laws, Eagle Eye Inspections are qualified to help pool owners make sure that their pool barriers and fences are compliant with state regulations.

Residential Spas or Pools
All swimming pools and spas with a depth greater than 300 mm (30 cm) must have a compliant safety barrier.

Rental Property with a Spa or Pool
It is the homeowner’s responsibility to install the safety barrier. Contact the owner or their agent to request that a safety barrier be installed as a matter of urgency. As the occupier of the house, you are responsible for ensuring that the barrier is operating effectively at all times.

Purchasing a Property with a Pool
As the new owner, you are responsible for ensuring that a compliant safety barrier is in place. We can help you obtain a certification of safety for a barrier that meets the current regulations and standards.
